WALMER & DEAL CASTLES
Both of these castles were built by Henry VIII around 1540 after he had broken ties with the catholic church. Fearing an invasion from the catholic alliance of France and Spain he built a line of coastal defense castles on the southern coast of England to ward off the potential invaders. These 2 castles were built as part of that coastal defense.
